Preparing for year-end close: a checklist
A reminder of the topics to address now so that period-end procedures are completed smoothly.
Year-end close is more than the last month's entries. Reviewing the items below before the period ends makes closing faster and less risky.
Items we recommend reviewing
- Completing bank, receivables, payables and cash reconciliations
- Planning the stock count and comparing it with the records
- Assessing doubtful receivables together with supporting documents
- Checking the fixed asset register and depreciation
- Preparing the valuation of foreign currency accounts
